The use of Silicon Carbide (SiC) devices in Solar and Wind applications is on the rise. This allows for significant improvement in efficiency and increases energy generation. Another trend in the market is the move to higher voltages and SiC is a critical component in making that trend a reality.

Data from 3rd parties such as the Fraunhofer Institute ISE in Germany have shown results of solar inverters reaching > 99% efficiency as compared to 95% or less with standard silicon components. As the footprint of Solar Inverters, Solar Micro-Inverters, and Wind Power increases around the world, these percentage gains in efficiency at each node can translate into GIGAWATTS of power savings on the grid.
